Proximity Readers & Proximity Card Readers
Proximity Readers and Proximity Card Reader Systems have taken over the role of security personnel and reduced the manpower that would usually be necessary for a place of business . Now with this electronic security technology, user identification has become a lot more convenient not just for those who put the efforts in place, but also the users being identified. . Take your security efforts to the next level with some of Richmond Security’s most sophisticated Proximity Readers and Proximity Card Reader Systems technology.
Proximity Readers
Another form of electronic access control, the proximity reader system consists of specially designed proximity cards and proximity readers that can be recessed or surface mounted during wall construction . The proximity reader generates a small energy field that is detected when a proximity card is presented to its surface. If the card is properly encoded, the proximity reader signals the hardware to release granting access to the building or space . The proximity technology also creates an audit trail of when and by whom access was granted. In case of electricity disruption, the proximity reader technology are now set up with a battery backup system so that you still feel safe and secure during a challenging moment. There are even some proximity security cards that do not need to be in contact with the access reader in order to function. The proximity security card can be held close to the reader and the information can be transmitted and some cards can even be read from a longer distance.

Proximity Card Reader Systems
One of the most popular forms of electronic access security are card readers whichrequire users to swipe magnetically encoded cards through a slot in the readers. Cards that are correctly encoded with a pin or other form of individual identification will cause the card reader to signal the locking hardware to release and shunt the alarms, allowing the card holder access to the building. Most card readers have features that restrict access during specific time periods, such as holidays or other non-business hours. Another benefit the card reader technology offers to most card readers is that it leaves an audit trail of when and to whom access was granted.
The main advantage of security card readers is that a specific card can be voided in the system easily and quickly, maintaining the security of the building o r space. For instance, if a person leaves the employ of a company and keeps their card, the employer can void the security card and prevent that person from gaining access to the building, thus giving you complete access control.
